Broadway Box Office slips slightly in first week of 2024-2025 season

The Broadway box office fell only slightly last week, about 3%, with the first week of the 2024-2025 season reporting a total gross of $35,295,405 for 34 productions. Total attendance was up just under 2% from last week, settling at 287,246.

The total attendance figure for the week ending May 26 shows that 91% of available seats were filled.

In all, 21 of the 34 productions reported some slippage heading into the Memorial Day weekend holiday. Some productions played either fewer or competing shows: They play mother canceled two shows due to illness in the company, with total receipts falling to $186,154 in $451,737. cabaret had a completely sold-out performance on Tuesday, with receipts from a proportion of $243,584 to $1,721,760.

Among shows playing full schedules, the biggest slips in dollar amounts were reported by A beautiful noise (discounted $131,227 in $836,992); Who is Tommy? ($130,667 to $838,728), Illinois ($96,070 to $720,409); AND The Great Gatsby ($98,829 to $1,180,828). Gatsby remained at a figure above 90% capacity/attendance, with 93% of seats filled.

Including the top earners for the week Lion King ($2,220,842), Wicked ($2,003,492), cabaret ($1,721,760), Merrily We Roll Together ($1,612,607), Hell's Kitchen ($1,554,417), MJ (1 500 185 dollars), Wiz ($1,475,932), Aladdin ($1,356,415), Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ($1,222,674), The Great Gatsby ($1,180,828), The Red Mill! ($1,112,591), An enemy of the people ($1,044,931), Water for elephants ($1,028,450), Back to the Future ($1,026,616), Outsiders ($1,023,985), and Uncle Vanya ($1,002,721).

Newcomer houseThe Roundabout revival of the Samm-Art Williams show in previews at Todd Haimes was still finding its footing, winning $99,866 for seven previews and filling 70% of seats.

The season so far, Broadway, in the first week of the new season, has won $35,295,405with total participation in 287,246.
